My days in Jamaica

内容提要：My trip is over, I really miss Jamaica, the volunteers and espcecially my host family. But i'm sure that I will go back some day!

My first week in Jamaica was a little bit hard.You know , i just got into a new environment, with new people and a different culture. i felt homesick and went through a culture shock.
I arrived on the weekend , and the first weekend i got to know my host family. There were four members in this family, and both of the children were college students. On Monday, the projects abroad staff led me with five other newly arrived volunteers through the town where we would work and live. And then , they took us to our workplace -the New Hope Children's Home.Though it was a little bit far away from my host family, it is very convenicent to get there as there are several buses.When i arrived there, all the children were running towards me, saying hello and gave me big hugs. That was a great feeling;they were all welcoming me.
The next day all the volunteers began their first working day. I was very excited to see the children again. My supervisor, Mrs Williams, explained to me what i had to do is to teach the class in the mornings while a teacher in the chilren's home went to see her family in Canada. So every day i taught four children the ABC and the 123 in the form of little games. And then, i stopped at half past 10 beacuse it was their snack time. My day ended at lunch time when they had their lunch.
Once a month they planned Day Trips, when we traveled to MOntego Bay or Kingston to relax. Also once a month we had a "Dirty Day". On those days we had to paint a school or a house.
The best thing about my experience is the appraciation i got from the kids. When I was departing, they drew a painting for me with their thank you and goodbyes on it. My trip is over, I really miss Jamaica, the volunteers and espcecially my host family. But i'm sure that I will go back some day!
