动词+介词+it + that从句(例句引自词典)

内容提要：除极个别介词(如but, except等)外，一般介词后面是不能接that从句作宾语的，遇此情况通常应在介词后先加the fact，然后再接that从句，这样一来，the fact成了介词宾语，而其后的that从句则成了the fact的同位语从句。

He said the parents were responsible for the fact that the child had run away. 他说孩子父母应对孩子逃跑一事负责。

In spite of the fact that she had three small children, he sent her to prison for six months. 尽管她有3个小小孩，他还是把她关进监狱6个月。

Were it not for the fact that you helped me, I would be homeless. 若非你的帮助，我仍会无家可归。

His love of literature was due to the fact that his mother read poetry to him when he was a child. 他对文学的爱好是由于他母亲从小就给他朗读诗歌的缘故。

■但有几个“动词+介词”结构比较特别，它们后面接that从句时，不是借助the fact，而是借助it——这类“动词+介词”结构主要有see to, look to, insist on, stick to, depend on, answer for等。如：

see to it that… 注意……；千万要……；负责……

See to it that you’re not late again. 注意千万不要再迟到。

Please see to it that the door is locked 请留意一下把门锁好。

See to it that you’re ready on time! 到时候你千万要准备好!

I’ll see to it that everything is ready in time. 我负责使这一切按时准备好。

Robert has seen to it that all the little leaks were shut off. 罗伯特已负责让所有的小漏洞都堵上。

look to it that… 注意……

Look to it that this doesn’t happen again. 注意不要再发生这种事。

answer for it that… 保证……

I can’t answer for it that he will come. 我不能保证他会来。

depend on it that… 放心……

You may depend upon it that we shall never lose heart. 你放心我们绝不会灰心。

You can depend on it that she’ll always look after number one. 她总是关心自身的利益，对这一点可以打包票。

rely on it that... 放心……

You may rely on it that he’ll come to meet you. 你放心，他会来接你的。

You can rely upon it that it will rain this weekend. 你放心好了，本周末一定下雨。
