• Students give their own answers.

Ask the students to find the information from the passage.
Step 5 Discussion
Do the exercises on page 22.
Step 6. Language points( if time is enough)
1.Our legs were so heavy and cold that they felt like blocks of ice.
T: This sentence uses simile( 明喻 ). A simile is a comparison between two things using “like” or “as”.
Ask the students to find another example in this text: However, the lakes shone like glass in the setting sun and looked wonderful.(Here the lakes are compared to glass.)
Then the teacher mention metaphor( 暗喻 ). With a metaphor, things are compared without using “like” or “as”. Ask the students if they can find a metaphor in the text. The third sentence has one: Have you ever seen snowmen ride bicycles? In this sentence Wang Kun is really saying to the reader that he and his sister were so cold while cycling in the Tibetan mountains that they felt as if they were made of snow and ice.
Ask the students whether the following sentence is a simile or a metaphor.
“Our legs felt so heavy and cold that we thought they were ice. (Metaphor)
2. To climb the mountain road was hard work but to go down the hills was great fun.
To get up early is good for our health.
It is good for our health to get up early.
have fun = enjoy oneself = have a good time 玩得开心
They had fun at the party.
be full of fun: 有趣的
make fun of = laugh at 嘲笑
It is great fun to do sth.
funny: adj.
